DNA (n.) deoxyribonucleic
acid. A nucleic acid that carries the genetic information in the cell
and is capable of self-replication and synthesis of RNA. DNA consists
of two long chains of nucleotides twisted into a double helix and
joined by hydrogen bonds between the complementary bases adenine and
thymine or cytosine and guanine. The sequence of nucleotides determines
individual hereditary characteristics.
A
DNA test is a process of examining the nucleotides at specific locations
on someone's DNA Genetic fingerprinting, DNA testing, DNA typing,
and DNA profiling are techniques used to distinguish between individuals
of the same species using only samples of their DNA. DNA samples
are commonly extracted from saliva, blood or hair.
DNA
parentage testing has the power to produce conclusive, irrefutable
answers. However, such powerful results are only produced when a sufficient
number of genes are tested. In fact, a DNA test may falsely substantiate
fatherhood when only a small number of common genes are analyzed.
Our Laboratories performs very extensive testing in all cases. The
average power of exclusion is greater than 99.999999%. Our lab is
so stringent that it provides a level of accuracy that is over one
million times greater than most state and federal government standards.

is now living in the US. He wants to bring his 2 daughters from
Guatemala to live with him. The US embassy in Guatamala has asked
for a DNA test be performed.
